Pinewood
Wild gorges, passed-down traditions, mythical places, Celts and Treh the Witch; she knew the secrets of the local plants and their healing properties: Sarner Latsche - Pinus Sarentensis®.

According to the legend, Trehs was a witch from Sarntal who was very knowledgeable about plants and their properties. During the night of the witches in the mystical place known as „Steinernen Mandln", she plucked mountain pine-needles and threw them onto the fire. The scent of pine, as they knew even back then, has a stimulating effect, freeing the soul and providing energy.

The production of Sarntal Pine-oil (Pinus Sarentensis) goes back a long way. Thanks to the quality of the soil and the intense rays from the sun, Sarntal mountain pine is particularly good for making oil. Additionally, the craft of burning, which has been passed down through generations, is essential to successful production of the oil.

Around 250g kg of mountain pine needles are needed to make a litre of this valuable oil. The perfume of Sarner pine is characterised by a pleasant fresh, balsamic, woody-resinous forest scent with a Southern flair.
It is particularly good for the skin, thanks to its circulation-stimulating properties. Cell metabolism is stimulated and thus the endogenous system boosted.

Vitalpina Hotels Südtirol use mountain pine in several of their wellness treatments.
