5 tips for a sustainable winter holiday

This is how you can leave green footprints in the snow!

1. The right area

If you are looking for fun in the snow that’s also in harmony with nature, go on holiday to an area with as much natural snow as possible, as the guaranteed snow means such areas need fewer snow cannons. In South Tyrol these are in particular the Val Gardena, the Tauferer Ahrntal Valley, the Ortler Skiarena, the Dolomites Three Peaks and the Ratschings-Jaufen ski area.

2. Sustainable diversity

Sustainable winter sports mean winter sports that do not alter or negatively affect the natural world. It doesn’t always have to be skiing! Cross-country skiing and ski touring are alternatives, allowing you to explore the snow-covered mountains and valleys from a new and above all sustainable angle! An entertaining change is also offered by exploring the mountains on an enjoyable hike through the snow, or even on snowshoes. Tobogganing is also a wonderful activity that is also very environmentally friendly. By the way, when doing any of these activities, don't forget to wear a helmet!

3. Getting there sustainably

When it comes to winter holidays, most people choose to travel by car. It is after all comfortable and, especially for skiing holidays, visitors will have a lot of luggage with them. But did you know that the new “Südtirol Transfer” shuttle service can take you from the train station or the coach stop to your Vitalpina hotel?
