Herbs for your well-being

As Vitalpina Hotel we pay special attention to typical regional, vital nutrition. Therefore the rearing and care of herbs is very important. Due to the mild climate of the region of Merano the first herbs grow and bloom already in April, such as rosemary, sage, marjoram, oregano, thyme, savory,
Olive herb, parsley, chives, fenugreek, mint, lemon balm and some more. You can find the best herbs in all areas of our hotel, in our kitchen dishes, in our homemade syrup, in the spa or simply as fragrant or decoration throughout the hotel.
We served homemade, fresh bread with our herbs daily to our vital salads.

The smell of the freshly baked bread from the oven is simply delicious.
And sure, making homemade bread is not difficult, try it and you will love it.
Our recipe for our homemade rosemary bread:

- 400 ml tepid water
- 1 spoon of sugar
- 30 g yeast
- 250 g wheat flour
- 250 g wholemeal flour
- 200 g buckwheat flour
- 15 g salt
- rosemary herbs from garden
- 200 ml olive oil

First let rosemary pull in olive oil for 10 minutes.
Stir the water, yeast, sugar and the olive oil togheter. Mix all flour and salt and bring together all. Now make a soft dough using the hands. Tip onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 mins. It is worth putting in the time to do this as it will pay off later with lovely airy bread. Turn the dough into a bowl  and cover with cling film. Put in a warm place until the bread fills the bowl, it should take between 1 -2 hours. Knead the dough again and put in a warm place for 20 minuts until your dough is well risen.  Bake your bread at 200C for 20-30 minutes.
Tip: If you enter the bread in the oven, keep into a small flat key with water, so it produced some steam and your bread will be very softly and delicious.
