Sheep wool is known as the white gold of the Senales Valley. In our valley, sheep farming dates back to centuries ago, and just like then, it's still carefully preserved and guarded. Our natural unspoilt landscape and the refined quality of the products of the TONZHAUS hotel are the demonstration of the importance that we give to farming, and to the derived precious sheep produce.

How we approach sustainability
We make use of local companies in principle - from master builders to carpenters, all companies are from the area.
We make sure that all construction harmoniously integrates into the landscape. We also carefully plan existing areas to save resources and avoid unnecessary sealing of soil in the natural surroundings.
Free of charge
Free pick-up and drop-off service to and from Meran station as a little thank you for travelling sustainably!
Delicious
Salad from the plate instead of from the buffet. We are also increasingly moving towards smaller breakfast portions instead of XXL containers - with unlimited seconds, of course. This ensures that food is not wasted and everyone still gets enough!
We don't really like imported products - produce from local farmers in Schnals and other South Tyrolean producers instead top our shopping list.
Our showers have water-saving eco-turbines to reduce water consumption. This benefits the environment: we have also optimised electricity consumption throughout the building.
And if guests don't want their room cleaned unnecessarily, they can simply tell us by hanging a little pine tree on the door.
To ensure our staff enjoy a good work-life balance, they work uninterrupted shifts (max. 7 hours) and can take a well-deserved holiday break even in summer. They also have comfortable workwear of cotton and linen!
