Snowshoeing: Relaxation and enjoyment in winter

10.11.2011 - by Vitalpina Hotels Südtirol

Off-piste skiing and snowshoeing are wonderful ways to experience nature in winter at first hand. Hikes of varying degrees of difficulty can be taken in the many mountains, forests and ski areas across South Tyrol; from short leisurely strolls and quiet winter hikes on fully cleared snow paths to extended snowshoe adventures through untouched forests. High up and remote from the crowds, the ascent to any of South Tyrol's summits is always rewarded with a grandiose panoramic view.
Leave the ski-lifts behind and strike up a march, though unspoilt, soft and powdery snow, leaving only the trail of your skis behind you. Climbing in complete silence, the joy of reaching the high peaks and the views on offer, and then the thrill of whizzing back down through fresh and untouched snow all combine to make this a fascinating and engaging sport.

Our Tip:
The proper choice of clothing will help protect you from the elements - the ideal outfit is light and breathable, and plays a crucial role in a mountaineer’s safety. At Vitalpina hotels a backpack and walking poles are provided in the rooms for each guest for the entire duration of your stay. It is also possible to hire snow shoes, binoculars, compasses and walking maps.
