A journey between heaven and earthSouth Tyrol offers a labyrinth of hiking trails: no fewer than 16,000 kilometres of paths to discover, all well maintained, marked and signposted, even secured in places. They run through gentle meadows that extend like green carpets. There are themed trails and irrigation channels, where the adventure is part of the game; paths through dense forests, where resin and moss exude the scent of silence. And there are also challenging climbs that almost let you touch the sky as a fitting reward. South Tyrol’s mountain landscapes are undoubtedly as varied as the people who live there, from the eastern Dolomites to the Schlern and Rosengarten massifs, from the Geisler peaks to the might of King Ortler – and everything in between.
More than half of the terrain of South Tyrol lies at over 1,500 metres above sea level, meaning that you can breathe clear, cool air here even in the blazing heat of summer, leaving the warmth of the valley far below. Every step upwards invites you to immerse yourself yet deeper in the silence of nature, to feel and absorb it with every breath.
