Autumn on the Chestnut Trail: Our Tip for Radoarhof
Chestnuts under your feet, the Geisler peaks in view and the smell of good food somewhere in the air. That’s more or less what our favourite autumn day in South Tyrol looks like.
Our tip: follow a section of the Eisack Valley Chestnut Trail and then stop at Radoarhof in Feldthurns.
The organic farm is located right along the Chestnut Trail, making it the perfect place for a little break. There’s a cosy traditional tavern, South Tyrolean specialities and, of course, a glass of local wine or two. Because let’s be honest: after a few kilometres of hiking, everything tastes even better.
If you want to see more than just the scenery, you can also join a guided tour of the farm. Organic farmer Norbert will show you around and explain how organic farming works here. Nothing too formal – just a genuine glimpse of everyday life in South Tyrol.
Our tip for your autumn day
Start your walk along the Chestnut Trail, enjoy the views and take your time at Radoarhof. There’s no need for a strict schedule. After all, it’s autumn – and a hike can always take a little longer when a glass of wine and a traditional South Tyrolean snack are waiting for you.
Chestnuts, mountains, wine and a little South Tyrolean way of life – that’s what autumn is all about.
