In the farthest of Val Casies there are huge granite blocks stacked on top of each other, which sometimes form deep grottos. In ancient times, the beak people lived in these caves, big, enormous giants who had beaks instead of mouths.
The “Moosbauer”, the farthest farmer in the Val Casies, was responsible for the beak people's breakfast. Before going to bed, he had to put a big pan of typical tyrolean milk food in front of the house and was not allowed to stick his nose out of the door before getting light.
One day, nine men were caught in a storm and sought refuge in a shed. Soon night fell and the men got scared. They hid in the hay and soon they heard the beak man approaching with big steps. At a secret signal, all 9 men raised their heads out of the hay at the same time. The beak man, who was quite surprised and confused, shouted: "Am nine times old and nine times young! But I have never seen such a wild animal with nine heads!"
From then on, the beak man was never seen again in the Val Casies.
