My personal favourite place in the hotel is… the Mediterranean panoramic terrace, whether for breakfast or for a delightful cocktail in the evening.
When hiking I always have in my rucksack... a piece of apple strudel from the Weithalter pastry shop in Schnals.
My favourite book is… “Free Spirit” by Reinhold Messner
My absolute favourite hike is… to the Hochwart peak above Naturns, because from the summit you have wonderful views over almost all of South Tyrol, with the Dolomites and Bozen to the south-east, the Similaun peak and the Texel group to the north and the Ortler group to the west.
This guestbook entry particularly touched me…
“Dear Mara, at the age of 74 I would never have dreamed of standing atop a 2,855-metre summit. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this possible for me.”
I draw strength from... always giving myself a guided glacier hike as a present for my birthday in July.
In my herbal kitchen I always have... mint.
A special dish from our kitchen is… the famous Schnals Valley roast kid, served with potatoes and vegetables – a regional classic.
Which fragrance do I particularly like and why? What does it remind me of?
I especially like the smell of fresh hay: it reminds me of my childhood when I was always allowed to help out with the haymaking with my uncle.
We particularly enjoy... showing our guests our beautiful homeland.
Sustainability for me/us means... treating people and nature with respect so as to preserve the beauty of our homeland.
Our personal commitment to sustainability is... regional purchasing and working in ways that will conserve resources.
The thing I miss most from home when on holiday is... the wonderful mountain huts where you are always well looked after.
Vitalpina means for us... that our guests can experience the authentic “South Tyrolean” sense of life.
If I had to describe my hotel in three words, they would be… welcoming, relaxed, modern.
And if I had to describe myself in three words… ambitious, helpful and inquisitive.
