Yes, summertime is hiking, enjoyment and above all alpine pasture time. We have also gone back up to our Ontrattalm. At the beginning of June, Sabrina Rainer (Hannes' sister) and her husband Manfred packed their bags and moved all the animals from the Gassgut farm to the high pastures. There they stay with their horses, cows, sheep, goats, chickens and pigs for the entire summer. The cosy alpine hut with a wood cooker and several rooms also includes the stable where the animals find shelter. The special thing about the pasture is the unique feeling you get up there. Situated amidst mountain peaks, you can enjoy nature with all your senses. You can hear the babbling mountain stream, have the scent of fresh mountain herbs in your nose, feel the fresh grass between your toes and let your gaze wander into the far distance. You really have to experience this feeling for yourself! Senior chef Hans regularly invites you to guided hikes to the Ontrattalm in summer. You start directly behind the hotel and arrive at this "Lieblingsplatzl" after a comfortable two-hour walk. At lunchtime, Hans grills delicious products from his own farm and fields, tells exciting stories and hands out a schnapps - which of course cannot be missed. The hike to the alp is also an ideal family outing. The children can watch and pet the animals and play on the alpine meadow and in the small Jaufental stream, which flows past right next to the hut. If you prefer a shorter walk, you can also drive to Obertal by car and reach the alp from the car park in about an hour. And if you prefer to cycle, you can comfortably cycle up along a forest road.
