This ritual is upheld for example in the
Tonzhaus in the Schnalstal Valley: Andreas is passionate about making
preserves from regional fruits. Meanwhile, he uses the natural flavours of Swiss
stone pine, larch and mountain pine to make high-quality
schnapps, while Patrizia transforms
herbs and
berries into small,
natural miracle cures.
Herbs as natural helpers
Medicinal herbs offer not just a way of cooking and enhancing dishes, but also make a valuable remedy for a number of aches and pains:
Arnica: this powerful medicinal herb is particularly good for treating sore muscles and bruises: whether as an ointment or tincture, arnica can relieve pain and promote healing.
St John’s wort oil: an indispensable remedy made from St John’s wort, this provides relief for minor burns and skin irritations: the oil soothes the skin and aids the healing of minor wounds.
Yarrow: a plant known for its anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties, it is often taken as a tea or a tincture to soothe the digestive tract. Ideal for stomach upsets or for long-term well-being.
The power of the berryOur berries are another gift that can accompany us into the winter months.
Berries are real
powerhouses – they not only taste delicious, they also have
remarkable effects on our health. Especially in the colder months, when the immune system is under stress and the body becomes more susceptible to infections, berries offer us
valuable support.
Cranberry juice, for example, not only makes for a fruity delight – it is also a tried and tested household remedy, helping to maintain a healthy urinary tract. It is a particularly refreshing and healthy drink that strengthens the immune system when colds are going round.
We are also celebrating a special event, namely twenty years of the Tonzhaus. Its history, along with tales of the Tonzhaus, can be found
