Many people believe that hotel businesses harm the local economy. Foreign construction companies are hired, many disposable products are used, and the marketed region is destroyed by mass tourism.
There is another way. Our philosophy is based on regionality and sustainability.
The Berghotel is a hiking hotel in the mountains, built in the style of the mountains and from the materials of the mountains - stone, wood and glass and insulated with natural wood fibre boards and rock wool. Solid wood furniture, wooden floors and natural stones were also used in the furnishings. Carpeting only in the corridors, where it makes sense from a soundproofing point of view. We do not like plastic. Our food is local, organic and of the highest quality, we don't waste, we behave sustainably and responsibly in the now and not tomorrow.
"Eating healthy and natural" is our motto. We use food that still has its own flavour, is as little manipulated as possible and has not been chemically altered. We achieve this by supporting small-scale cycles, promoting local products and regional cuisine and cooking according to traditional recipes. We avoid convenience food and use ready-made products only when they make sense. Our kitchen works with the highest quality regional, organic and fair trade products. We treat our food with the same care and attention as we do our environment, i.e. we try to throw away as little as possible and recycle it as a whole. Meat and bread come from local butchers and bakers but vegetarians are also happy.
Storable products are bought in large quantities to produce as little traffic as possible. By reducing traffic, we buy as close as possible. For example, construction work is carried out by local companies and craftsmen. In addition, we have created the conditions so that a holiday without a car is easily possible for our guests.
We avoid waste, packaging materials and disposable products, especially those made of plastic. Reusable systems are used and packaging materials are kept large. The rest is carefully separated and disposed of separately. There is very little plastic in the Berghotel and less and less in the future. So we ask our guests to bring their own bathing slippers, otherwise we have high-quality slippers for sale. We do not have bath slippers that are thrown away. In the rooms and in the SPA you will find high-quality natural products made from local mountain pines and Swiss stone pines from Trehs in the large bottle. We do not use the usual plastic waste producing cosmetic products in small sizes that are thrown away every day.
Towels, bed linen, bathrobes, napkins, etc. are washed when our guests deem it necessary and not at fixed times, thus avoiding the use of huge amounts of toxic detergents. By reducing the amount of detergents used, which pollute the water, and by systematically using dosing equipment, we manage to keep our consumption in check.
Due to good thermal insulation of the houses, we "lose" relatively little heat. The energy supply is exclusively from "clean" and renewable energy sources. The hot water is produced by about 70m² of solar panels. The energy for heating and hot water (when the sun is not shining) is supplied by the biomass plant (wood) in Sesto and the electricity consumed is produced exclusively by hydroelectric power plants. The total energy consumption is significantly lower than that of equivalent hotels!
We balance our mountain hotel according to the climate neutrality alliance and are certified according to EU-Ecolabel and
GSTC certified. We want to be as transparent and open as possible. Every year you will
