Something to make the heart flutter
Chocolate berry dessert with vanilla cream
Sometimes love doesn’t need big words – just a spoon. This dessert combines everything that makes Valentine’s Day so special: melt-in-the-mouth chocolate, fruity berries and a light hint of vanilla. Quick to prepare, lovely to look at and guaranteed to be a pleasure to share.
Ingredients (for 2–4 servings) - 100 g dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa)
- 200 ml cream
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract or pulp from half a vanilla pod
- 200 g berries (fresh or frozen, e.g. raspberries and strawberries)
- 1–2 tbsp sugar or honey (depending on the acidity of the berries)
- optional: butter biscuits or sponge cake for the base
Preparation1.Delicious berries:Briefly boil the berries with the sugar or honey until they slightly disintegrate. Leave to cool.
2.Chocolate moment:Chop the chocolate into large pieces and melt slowly in a bain-marie.
3.Vanilla cream:Whip the cream with the honey and vanilla until stiff, then carefully fold in the melted chocolate – it must remain light and fluffy!
4.Layered with love:As an option, add crumbled biscuits to the glass, then berries, then chocolate cream – and repeat. Top with berries or chocolate shavings.
Serve and enjoy!Leave to steep briefly in the refrigerator – or simply enjoy it at once. It will taste best when shared with someone special, by candlelight or after a winter walk.
Tip: If you like, you can make the dessert extra special with a touch of grated orange peel or a dash of berry liqueur for an adult version.
