The Tonzhaus - a house full of life and movement
The TONZHAUS, whose history dates back to 1381, has always been a lively meeting place. Farmers from Unser Frau and the surrounding area used it as a changing room and for socialising after mass.
The exact origin of the name TONZHAUS cannot be said with certainty today. It was mentioned as early as 1381, but was called the ‘Goldenes Kreuz’ from around 1890. Interestingly, however, the locals have always called it ‘Tonzhaus’. In 2016, Patrizia and Andreas returned to the roots and the hotel was given back its ‘old’ historical name, which has always been deeply connected to the place.
In the 1960s, Andreas' father Willi Götsch leased the inn from the municipality, later bought it and converted it into a cosy little hotel in 1975. The ‘Goldenes Kreuz’ inn was born. That was the first major change. However, the old house was not completely demolished! The pearl of the old house, the ancient farmhouse parlour, has been preserved to this day. With its beautiful wooden window frames, seating niches, the historic grandfather clock and the carved ‘Lord God’ in the corner.
Andreas and Patrizia Götsch have been running the TONZHAUS with passion since 2004, 20 years ago. They expanded and modernised the house in 2006, 2016 and 2019 without forgetting its roots. A place where the past meets the future and life dances.
