The pleasure of anticipation! Knowing that you will be in the great outdoors, experiencing it fully and consciously, taking deep breaths, finding peace, all while keeping active – that is exactly what we at the
Vitalpina Hotels of South Tyrol stand for. Amid the towering peaks,
lush green forests and sun-drenched meadows, hiking here is more than a mere exercise: it is transformed into a lasting experience of nature for both body and mind.
We, your hosts at the
Vitalpina Hotels, know our homeland like few others. We can
accompany our guests to very special places that will restore lost energy, and we are happy to share our personal tips for tours to show how closely relaxation, exercise and nature are entwined. Especially in our hectic times, with their frequent, constant stress, getting out and about with a mindful approach is gaining enormously in importance.
Just a few hours in the natural world can help you to fully switch off, clear your head and
recharge your batteries. The crisp mountain air, sweeping views and, above all, the
soothing green hues will aid your personal regeneration: hiking slows the pulse as your senses become more alert, while many a heavy thought is simply left by the wayside! Why carry around such unnecessary burdens with you?
This principle applies equally to
packing your rucksack. This trusty companion should be as light as possible! You should nevertheless pack quite a few things that will ensure you travel in comfort and safety.
[01] A water bottle filled with water or hot tea.
[02] Not for the rucksack, but for the feet: good walking boots with a secure grip.
[03] Something to change into when you arrive – very happy, but very sweaty!
[04] Sun cream – don’t underestimate the power of the sun, especially at high altitudes!
[05] A pocket knife or multi-tool – you never know!
[06] Also for emergencies: a few plasters or even a little first-aid kit!
[07] A head torch, especially if you are setting off early or might be out for longer than planned. (The SOS signal is three short flashes, three long flashes, three short flashes!)
[08] When it comes to food, remember to pack an emergency snack – for example a cereal bar can always come in handy! [Link zum Vitalpina-Riegel]
[09] A bag for picking up litter. Nice of you to think of that – thank you!
[10] And, of course, make sure your mobile phone is fully charged so you can capture that special moment at the summit, or get in touch with others if need be. And remember – the emergency number 112 will usually work even when there’s no signal.
[11] A rain cape or waterproof hardshell jacket should the weather change or you feel cold.
[12] And, if you like, hiking poles! Ideally ones that can be telescoped to a compact size so you can attach them to your rucksack.
Sustainable hiking also means opting for
reusable water bottles, local produce and high-quality, durable equipment – all in keeping with our
Vitalpina philosophy!
